Hahnemühle Sumi-E Paper Pads contain 20 sheets of 80gsm, acid-free paper, designed for Japanese Sumi-E ink painting. The slightly textured surface provides a specialist paper for exploring brushwork, from simple ink studies to more developed compositions.

Use these pads with Sumi-E ink to practise expressive lines, brush marks and tonal variations. Each sheet is separated by protective tissue paper, helping to protect the paper between uses.

The pads have a glued binding and soft cover, allowing individual sheets to be removed when needed. Clean-cut edges give the paper a neat outline, while the acid-free, pH-neutral specification makes the paper a considered choice for your ink work.

Choose 24 × 32cm for smaller studies and practice pieces, or 30 × 40cm for compositions that need more space. Both sizes contain the same specialist 80gsm paper and 20-sheet count.

• 20 sheets of 80gsm paper per pad, with a slightly textured surface.
• Designed for Japanese Sumi-E ink painting and brushwork.
• Acid-free and pH neutral, with protective tissue between the sheets.
• Glued binding and soft cover, with clean-cut sheets that can be removed individually.

We recommend that this paper is perfect for Japanese Painting techniques and works especially well with Sumi-E ink specifically. It can be used with certain sketching materials in a pinch. We would suggest using this pad for Japanese painting works, specifically with Sumi-E inks as the pad is specialised for this use.
