Rice Paper or Xuan Paper is made in China. The paper originates from ancient China and was used traditionally for writing & painting. The paper is renowned for being soft and fine textured, suitable for conveying the artistic expression of both Chinese Calligraphy & painting. Originally produced in the Tang Dynasty, in Jing County, which at the time was under jurisdiction of Xuan Prefecture, hence it gained its name as Xuan Paper. 

The paper features a great tensile strength, smooth surface, pure & clean texture and excellent resistance to creasing. These Chinese paper rolls are perfect for developing your Chinese Calligraphy skills, including lettering and delicate painting techniques. Extremely strong despite its appearance, almost like a fabric in durability, it is also suitable for mixed media and collage art forms. We recommend this paper for use with calligraphy and fine brush & pen work primarily as it has been used with these mediums for centuries and they work expertly on this surface. Due to the paper's strength it can also be used quite effectively as a wrapping paper or as a protective layer when transporting finished pieces of work. Due to the paper's fabric-like qualities it makes it excellent also for mixed media working and collage art.
