Clairefontaine Brown Kraft Paper Pads offer 90gsm brown paper for charcoal, pencil and other dry media, with options for acrylic and gouache techniques too. The natural brown background gives you a starting tone for studies, sketches and mixed-media work.

The paper has a laid surface, smooth on one side and ribbed on the other, so you can explore different marks and textures within the same pad. Made at the Clairefontaine paper mill in Meurthe, France, the sheets are acid-free and pH neutral.

A glued binding allows sheets to be removed, while the cardboard backing provides a firmer working support. Choose A5 or A4 to suit your sketching setup.

• 90gsm brown kraft paper

We recommend that this sketchpad is perfect for dry art techniques and works especially well with charcoal and pencil. Because it is 90gsm it is a light weight and won’t take watercolour or any other similar wet technique well and the paper could easily buckle. We would suggest any dry medium that can be used for sketching but can also be used for things such as acrylic because the paper is very resistant and can retain pigments well.
