Lokta tissue paper is a highly durable, eco-friendly, artisan paper handmade in Nepal from the fibrous inner bark of the Lokta bush, a Daphne shrub that grows wild at high altitude in the Himalayas. Because the bush regenerates fully within four to seven years of harvesting without disturbing its root system, lokta is prized as a genuinely sustainable, tree-free paper.
The tissue-weight variant is semi-sheer and remarkably supple, yet its long, flexible fibres give it high resistance to tearing, humidity and insects despite the delicate feel. It suits luxury eco-friendly gift wrapping, block printing, invitations and mixed-media art projects.
