Arches Huile Paper is specifically made for oil painting via a traditional cylinder mould process, which results in a flatter paper with exceptional wet strength and stability, lending artists more control when painting. The high-quality, 100% cotton that is used in this paper is completely acid-free, helping to prevent yellowing and discoloration.

The 300gsm paper measures 56cm by 76cm and has been cold pressed for a bumpy surface texture with a balanced fine grain comparable to that of a stretched canvas. This weight strikes the perfect balance between strength and ease-of-use. It's strong but lightweight, allowing you to easily roll it up for transport, to cut it up into smaller sheets, or to even take it outdoors to paint en plein air. The powerful oil barrier on the surface of the paper helps with water and solvent absorption, letting the paint and pigment remain on the surface for a more striking effect and more vibrant colours.

Thanks to the unique gelatin stock-sizing techniques, Arches Huile Paper is perfect for vigorous painting techniques including rubbing, scraping, and is even durable enough for impasto layers. Each sheet has four deckled edges and is imprinted with a small Arches watermark to authenticate the paper.
