Clairefontaine Sketch Pads are made within the Clairefontaine paper mill in Meurthe, France. The pads contain 100 pages of long natural unbleached virgin fibres, making this paper 100% natural and bio-degradable. It is also PEFC certified from sourced, recyclable materials so it is very eco-friendly and has a unique mechanical strength and flexibility. The sheets are pH neutral and acid-free. Each page is 90gsm and is great for charcoal, felt tips, pencils and all mixed-media as it retains pigments well. The paper used is Ivory in colour and smooth with a slight texture.

The Clairefontaine Sketch Pad is cut-edge which provides a clean edge to the paper. The cover is paperback with a cardboard back to provide a harder surface to work on. The bind is a flip-top spiral and has a perforated edge which produces a straight edge when ripped out of the pad; it can also open-flat. It is a thick book and is ideal for students and artists of any level.

We recommend that this pad is perfect for mixed-media but works especially well with charcoal and felt-tips. Because it is 90gsm it is a thin weight and can easily be used for dry art techniques, some wet techniques can be used but we would suggest using a thicker paper.
