One of the most versatile art mediums, pencils can be used on various different weights of paper. As a rule, we would suggest 100gsm or over for professional pieces. If you are sketching or practising a weight between 75gsm and 90gsm is perfectly acceptable. Something to take note of is that the texture would depend if it is a graphite or coloured pencil as something smoother would work better for graphite and a rough texture is better for coloured as it has something to latch onto. For day-to-day drawing with whichever dry-technique you prefer, a standard drawing paper is good.
