Nepalese Lokta Paper is made from the Fibrous Inner Bark of the Lokta Plant. The white long fibres from the plant is what gives Lokta Paper its distinctive feel and technical qualities. Lokta is a bush, indigenous to Nepal and can grow up to 7ft tall. The harvesting process does not damage or kill the plant but instead prevents decay, after being harvested the plant will regrow making the whole process sustainable. 

The natural manufacturing process of these papers gives them a unique feel & texture as well as being durable  and resistant to tearing. They are non-perishable in water, making them ideal for use with wet media, especially Inks, which work fantastically on this surface. Inks have been used on Lokta for centuries, for legal documents and religious texts. Highlighting the medium's ideal use on this paper. 

Nepalese Lokta Paper is deckle-edge which provides a rough edge to the paper. The paper can be used with Inks or most dry media as a sketching and drawing surface. In particular, white or lighter toned materials work excellently on this surface as the natural dark tone gives immediate contrast to work. Available in two weights, 30gsm & 90gsm. Size of sheets are 56 x 76 c.m (22 x 30 Inch). 5 Sheets Per Pack

We recommend this paper for use with Inks primarily as its unique manufacturing process and long fibres provide it with excellent qualities that are suited for Ink work. As well as inks this paper is excellent for sketching or scrapbooking as it has a unique colour and texture.
